Our Story

The most important part of any business is the people  

Like many successful partnerships, our journey started with a simple friendship.

When Lyle and I met in 2015, we quickly realised our shared vision and, three months later, launched FX Paymaster, which has since grown into one of South Africa’s leading money transfer businesses. But our biggest challenge wasn’t the business model or technology—it was recruitment.

The traditional recruitment process was a frustrating, costly and time-consuming ordeal. Dealing with agencies led to subpar results and hefty fees, often as high as 25% of the employee’s annual salary. Opting for a more direct route we tried many job boards only to be met with countless applications and exaggerated CVs.

We knew there had to be a better way to find & access talent

From this frustration, Perspectv was born. We envisioned a ” Talent Matching” platform that could seamlessly connect the right people to the right jobs. A place with no middlemen, no outrageous fees, and no searching or applying—just a simple way for hiring manage And job seekers to discover and connect with each other directly.

When it comes to talent sourcing, there is nobody providing comprehensive, data-driven talent matching at an SME level at this price.

  1. The first problem is access to market: Most companies have no direct access to talent. This means they’re stuck relying on job boards and recruitment agencies – where the process is slow, expensive and downright frustrating. Good people are hard to find, cost a fortune to hire, and are nearly impossible to keep.

  3. The second problem is the endless cycle of hiring and firing: Too many people end up in the wrong roles, leading to them being unhappy, unproductive and disengaged. It’s only a matter of time before they quit or get fired. This never-ending cycle costs small businesses billions each year.

By harnessing the power of data + technology, we connect job seekers directly with ideal employers, eliminating the middlemen, hassle and costs involved in finding talent.

Perspectv’s strength lies in our unique, low-cost, data-driven introductions, giving us a serious edge in the recruitment industry, especially for SMEs. We don’t just find candidates; we identify the people who should be talking to each other and then introduce them. In comparison to the steep recruitment fees charged by agencies, Perspectv’s low-cost “introduction fee” of £35 will be a game-changer.

The bottom line is there just aren’t any real talent sourcing solutions on the market that work. They’re either too complicated, too slow, too expensive, or just plain useless at actually finding the right people.

  • SMEs and Startups: These businesses usually struggle with finding the right talent quickly and affordably. Without direct access to talent, they’re totally on job boards and recruiters. Job boards often produce hundreds of low-quality applications, while recruiters charge anywhere from £3,500 to £7,000 for a mid-level placement. Perspectv solves both of these problems.
  • Job Seekers: Interns, Grads, Entry – Mid level employees, Temporary & contract workers. The biggest gripe for job seekers is that the Search & Application process is time-consuming and frustrating. Job descriptions often lack clarity, and applicants rarely receive any feedback. This leaves many feeling lost in an endless loop of applying and waiting.
  • Recruitment Agencies: Agencies looking for a more efficient/affordable way to source candidates for jobs.

The recruitment industry is massive and growing. There are currently 1.3 million active vacancies in the UK and over 12 million in the US. These are roles that companies just can’t fill. Job boards like LinkedIn, Monster, Indeed and Total Jobs are flooded with not thousands, but hundreds of thousands of job listings. Employment is one of those rare things that affects everyone, everywhere, and most companies are surprisingly bad at finding the right people.

Thanks to Covid (arguably the only good thing to come out of Covid), the world now embraces remote working too, meaning companies are now looking further afield for the skills they need. This means someone in Australia, Poland or the US could use Perspectv to connect with employers in the UK, Ireland or anywhere. The market (and problem) isn’t just big; it’s global, and it’s ripe for disruption.

The UK has over 6k registered recruitment businesses and 5.6 million SME’s. The US has over 49k recruitment businesses and 30 million SME’s.

We find job seekers through social media, digital marketing, and job boards. In just two weeks, 100 test jobs generated over 15,000 applications. As for employers, while it takes a bit longer to reach them, they’re generally receptive to our value proposition. Registering, posting jobs, and matching with candidates on Perspectv is completely free. After that, accessing pre-vetted candidates is just £35 per person. Compared to traditional methods, Perspectv is significantly faster, easier, cheaper and better.

Our tech stack is robust and versatile, designed to deliver optimal performance and scalability. At the core of our platform is React, a widely used JavaScript library for building user interfaces, ensuring a seamless and responsive experience for our users. Complementing React is our MongoDB database, which stores and manages vast amounts of data efficiently, enabling quick retrieval and analysis.

Additionally, we utilise integrations with SendGrid to streamline communication processes, ensuring timely notifications and updates for both job seekers and employers. Our platform’s proprietary algorithm forms the backbone of our matching system, leveraging various data points such as skills, experience, and personality traits to generate accurate and tailored job matches.

While the intricacies of these components may vary, our focus remains on delivering a user-friendly, data-driven solution that addresses the needs of both job seekers and employers. With a scalable and adaptable technology infrastructure, we are well-positioned to enhance and refine our matching process continuously, ensuring optimal results for our users.

  • Employer Revenue: We charge employers a pay-per-match fee of £35 for each candidate they want to connect with. The platform is free to register, use and promote jobs. Employers only pay if they want to meet matching candidates. We expect each new job to generate around £210 which is based on an average of 6 profiles being purchased per job. Candidates are shown to multiple employers so we work on the assumption that each candidates profile will be purchased at least 6 times.  
  • Job Seeker Revenue: We expect each new job listing to attract 100 job seekers, with 35% likely to opt for our £8.99 profile-boosting service.
  • Employer Revenue: Expected monthly recurring revenue scaling from £33,000 to £134,000 per month.
  • Profile Boost Revenue: Estimated to add approximately £50,000 to £200,000 per month in the first year.
  • In our first year, we anticipate revenues of over £3.5 million, leading to a profit of around £2.2 million post-expenses. With plans for expansion, we project a second-year revenue of approximately £7.1 million and third year at £22.5 million.

We’re aiming to raise £400,000 in exchange for equity/ordinary shares in Perspectv. While we anticipate raising more funds down the road, this initial injection will kickstart our journey. It gives us the chance to learn, test different messages and channels, grow and generate revenue, setting the stage for future expansion, potentially into the US market.

With £400,000, we’re set for a 12–18-month runway. This funding will cover operational expenses and marketing costs to ensure Perspectv gains the traction it needs. Our platform is fully developed and functional, so the funds will be used to build awareness and drive user acquisition. We’ve got a solid plan ready to go, and with this investment, we believe we can start generating revenue quickly. This investment will allow us to hit the ground running and rapidly scale our operations.

  • 40% will cover operating expenses, admin costs and contingencies. This ensures we can handle unexpected challenges and keep everything running smoothly.
  • 10% will go towards building out our team. To begin with, we’re outsourcing most tasks to trusted partners, so we don’t need to hire any heavy hitters right away. We remain pretty fluid in this department and will hire the skills we need as soon as the business can support the costs.
  • 50% will be spent on a multi-channel marketing campaign, including direct sales, email marketing, social media marketing and digital advertising. We have a clear plan based on what’s worked for us before.

In essence, the money will keep us operational, help us grow our team as needed, and drive our marketing efforts to build awareness and traction quickly.

Our “on-target” plan and projections see us covering 53,000 jobs and 5.3 million job seekers by 2027. If we achieve our objectives of an average of 6 profiles being purchased per job at £210, and 35% of job seekers boosting their profiles, our platform has the potential to generate £14.9 million in post-tax revenue. Considering an average exit multiple of 20 for a business like this, it positions our potential value at £300 million.

While these projections are ambitious, they reflect the significant demand for efficient and affordable talent matching solutions in the UK market. If we execute our strategy effectively, the potential ROI will be substantial.
